I have booked a stay for next year (June) on Turtle lake in Itasca county by Marcell, Minnesota and would like some tips on fishing the lake. I do N0T expect to isolate your hot spots but just some tips as we have never fished the lake before. I will be taking up our daughter and grandsons. In advance THANK YOU for any advice!
I'm almost certain they have a slot on Bass again this year so you'll want to check that out. The Regs for Turtle last year were - "all bass over 12" must be immediately released. Only 1 over 20" in possession per angler."
The occasional Eye or Pike can be had, with 12 feet of water clarity the best times are going to be the low light hours. There are some decent Crappies and smaller gills also. If all that fails you can always count on the Rock Bass to keep you busy.
THANK YOU ALL for the warm welcome! We TOTALLY enjoy fishing for smallmouth bass. Typically we fish for two weeks at a time which allows some time to start getting to know the lake. We really like fishing and sometimes we even do some catching which is the frosting on the cake. Just nice to get away and meet new people. I have already had conversations with the daughter at the resort we will be staying at an found out she is a high school bowler. I coach High School bowling for about eight years and went into retirement after last years trip to the State Tournament.
One more time THANK FOR THE WARM WELCOME and the shared information!
