I was in Colorado in July and we used alot of small Mepps spiners and small Kastmaster's , had best luck with the plain silver w/ white tail or rainbow trout colors. Tipped w/ a piece of worm or gulp helped. Lindy rigging w/ floating jigs w/ crawlers (where you were allowed)worked best. always cast upstream. Best of Luck to you. smile smiley

Make sure you check ahead of time... some areas don't allow any live bait of any kind in trout streams.. source of that of course is outdoor channel.. so can't exactly tell you locations but look them up online.

I grew up fishing trout in colorado. never used much for lures but used corn and cheese quite a bit. Salmon eggs also. Trout love worms also.Used a mepps spinner a few years back in montana and caught quite a few in a small stream. Any small pan fish lure should catch you some fish. Do me a favor and eat one for me I do love trout

I am not sure where you are fishing and whether you can use live bait or not, but I have a syringe I use to pump a little air into a couple of chambers of a crawer. I then cast upstream and let it drift and tumble over the rocks holding the line way up. This can be very effective.
