I am scared... really scared...

"People of Berlin, people of the world, this is our moment. This is our time," he said.

His rockstar status is truly international, the masses are hypnotized. CBS, NBC and ABC follows him like he is God... He can do no wrong!

See for yourself...

With all the political forums out there, I guess I don't see the point of firing up campaign articles here, unless they have to do with the outdoors somehow.

I mean, there it is. You can certainly do as you please. I just don't see the point.

Next you will be telling us Rush Limbaugh is a Bass fisherman. Leave politics on the political webs.

Let's not start a rumor about that bloated buffoon being a bass fisherman. There's a lot of conservatives gullible enough to believe it.

Hey you can't bad mouth the messiah!! What the heck are you thinking?

First, if you don't want to see politics on this site try getting the dude to sensor it (he can if he wants). otherwise, just don't click on that particular post (that's easy enough).

Oh and I feel I should say that Rush Limbaugh is alright in my book. I understand that people hate opinion radio but it is important to have around when the News networks don't do there jobs (like with Obama).

P.S. If you type Obama into microsoft word it will correct it to say Osama!!!

It has nothing to do with censorship. It has to do with this being a fishing forum, not a political forum. I just gave my opinion, as you did. My opinion is that we all share fishing in common, even if not our politics.

I don't want to hear negative stuff here about politics on either side. I want to hear about fishing. If I want politics, I can go to hundreds of forums.

Why buy trouble and conflict? There's plenty of it to go around in other places. So, how's your fishing luck been lately?

I think a respectful political conversation here would be fun, but MM is probably wise to want to keep politics outa here, since it usually devolves into name-calling and hurt feelings. There's a friendly vibe here and it'd be a shame to lose it.

Having said that, curiousity compels me to ask the Limbaugh supporter(s) here how they get past the infamous 1993 Chelsea incident, when Limbaugh hosted a national t.v. show and said that Socks (the cat) was no longer in the White House, but now there was a dog there and he held up a picture of 13-year-old Chelsea Clinton.

I like kids. My personal moral code doesn't allow me to ridicule them (especially not their looks when they're at the gawky early-teenage stage), not even in private, let alone in front of a national audience. For me, somebody who'd do such a thing is pretty much the definition of a lowlife scumbag.

So I'm curious if you were aware of the incident, if you find that sort of thing to be acceptable, and if you do, whether you think you have a coherent personal moral code and can be persuaded to describe it here.

Mineral man, you can also just use your discretion and not click on topics that you aren't interested in discussing. I’ll keep your opinion in mind but if politics are being talked about I'll probably chime in with my opinion and since this is the only forum I subscribe to, you might have to deal with it. We can talk about my fishing luck in the main forum. I like to keep the "friendly talk" out of the controversy section..

Odin, If I could give some of my perspective…
First, I didn’t see or hear what Limbaugh said in person as I was only 9 years old and not much of a Limbaugh fan at the time. But, I do know he talks about it to this day as one of the biggest errors in his long career.
I also know that If you let me talk three hours a day for twenty years I can only imagine how many “errors” I would make…. Saying that, I do agree that picking on a thirteen year old is a low ball move. But I am willing to believe he was truly sorry.

I assume you are willing to believe that Bill Clinton is a good person even though he cheated on his wife and lied under oath about it. To me that is as lowlife, dirty and rotten as it gets and even more so when you represent an entire nation of people.
But does that mean you should have to describe your moral code to me? Should I be able to judge you based on your support of a person I don't like? I think we would agree that the answer is no.

Hi Logan.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. A coupla things:

I'm tired of people minimizing manifestations of putrid character as "errors" and "mistakes." This wasn't Limbaugh speaking extemporaneously, it was a joke prepared in advance, which means he had time to consider it and thought it was acceptable. When he initially got heat for it, he blamed it on a staffer holding up the wrong picture, a lame excuse that further demonstrated his lack of class and maturity. If he's now owning up to it and sincerely regrets it, that's some evidence that his character isn't completely devoid of redeeming qualities.

I don't know what I said that led you to assume I think Bill Clinton is a good person. I'm always amazed when people cite Clinton's cheating on his wife and lying about it under oath as though it was the worst thing they could nail Clinton for, kinda like saying Jeffrey Dahmer was a degenerate because he didn't wash his hands before he ate. If you really think that's as "lowlife, dirty and rotten as it gets," I envy your blissful existence.

I also don't see how you could've rationally interpreted my comments to mean "you should have to describe your moral code to me." It was clearly a request, not a demand.

And of course you should be able to judge me based on my support for someone you don't like. If I said I thought Osama bin Laden was "alright," do you really think you wouldn't make any judgments of me?

"Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly? Because her father is Janet Reno." -- John McCain at a GOP fundraiser in 1998, another demonstration of his lack of class.
