i went from a Ranger 617VS to a Reata in 2005 and dont regret a thing. i get stuck fishing 4 in my boat often on Canadian trips and have been able to pull it off. i dont have a kicker, just a Minnkota Maxxum Pro 24v on the bow. lots of storage space and overall space, top end isnt bad, i have a Yamaha 150 four stroke and have hit 52mph on gps. the hull is actually faster than the 617 design, handles big water well, removable carpet is nice, trails well, big gas tank, overall very satisfied. prefer the rod storage in the Angler model which has the same hull, but the Reata can be likened to an SUV, very versatile.
People who fish for food, and sport be damned, are called pot-fishermen. The more expert ones are called crack pot-fishermen. All other fishermen are called crackpot fishermen. This is confusing. ~ Ed Zern, 1947
