I have a GOOD ramp story rather than a bad one.. last year was my FIRST year as a boat owner.. just an old 72 orange/red? lund with a 9.9 johnson. Well, the boat didn't get out the year b4 last and I didn't know the trailer's nylon rope was rotten at the knot. |
Sounded like a gunshot when it broke, and I wasn't carrying any extra rope, not thinking about needing it. I still don't know who it was that helped to resecure the boat to the trailor.. but there wasn't even a hint of ramp rage 2nd week of the season last year. Now I carry an extra trailor/winch rope just in case...and it's not that nylon stuff.
As for a funny bit about ramp rage.. last week I went out to Big Lake (Cloquet) just to look around (also found a Hedon top water lure on the shore) .. plenty of ramp rage that day... but it was a mother directing it at her two kids because she couldn't back the truck up to the dock to load the boat. She was screaming and having a fit each time she turned the wheel the wrong way and hte trailer missed the concrete and went sideways on her. I didn't even bring anything to fish with that day but it made the 5 minute drive worth it just to see. (I woulda offered to help but she was already crabbier than anyone I think I've ever seen who had already been out fishing.)
Even a BAD day of fishing is better than a good day of work; paydays excluded!
