I am new to the forum and this is my first post. I am from Dallas, TX and will be up fishing Lake St. Croix for a couple days the first week of July. I am a bass fisherman here in Texas and would like to catch some Walleye while I am up on vacation. Does anyone have any suggestions/hints for walleye fishing---location, depth, structure, lures/baits. Also, does anyone have any information you could share with me about the lake--fish species, etc. I appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks again.

I have never fished there, but to find out what kind of fish are in there and to see a lake map go to dnr.state.mn.us and then go to lake finder and type in the lake and there will be alot of info on it. Good luck!

There is an abundance of fish on the St Croix. Walleye fishing can be pretty good there. There's also northerns, bass (both), sunnies, crappies, and a large population of white bass. Catfish? Yeah, a lot of big ones get caught out of there. The state record catfish for Minnesota (70 pounds) comes from the St. Croix. Channel cats at 25 lb too. I did hear of plans to stock muskie, but I am not sure if they are doing that, though muskies have been caught. One big problem is the recreational boating - you are going to have a lot of traffic to compete with.
