have any fishermen try fishing in the rain? i've done it a couple of times but at times i caught a lot and at other times, there were barely a nible...so i was just wondering if anyone has gone fishing during the rain and caught fish?
I have found that on some lakes I fish, it's the front before the rain that seems to spur a bite. I remember many times out on the lake when a storm is brewing and having to wait 'til the last minute to get off because the bite was so good. Usually, after the storm, I will head out to see if I can pick up some more, but 9 out of 10 times, the bite has turned south...
Last year on Lake of the Woods we had a HUGE storm roll in but the fish kept biting. My cousin caught the biggest 'eye of his life 28" in the torrential downpour we had. We only left because the lighting had struck the tree on the island right next to us. The following year we were muskie fishing. ALL DAY not a single bite or follow. As we were hidden on the backside of an island a huge front rolled in on top of us and just as we noticed it BOOM both my top water and my dads buck tails were struck with pretty good sized fish. So I dont know if fishing in the rain in necessarily a good idea, but definitely prior to a storm works!!!

Even eminent chartered accountants are known, in their capacity as fishermen, blissfully to ignore differences between seven and ten inches, half a pound and two pounds, three fish and a dozen fish. ~ William Sherwood Fox, Silken Lines and Silver Hooks, 1954
