So I don't get it. Why the mandatory kill? To reduce the fishing population? Isn't that just showing that their catch and release programs ARE working and that it is a good thing?
This is animal rights legislation. It has nothing to do with conservation. I believe Germany has similar laws. The animal rights people say that catch and release is torturing the fish. The Swiss also recently passed legislation stating that plants have rights as well.
Its not that alarming. I am sure some PETA group put up a little fight and we all know the Swiss aren't much for fighting back so the law probably passed without any opposition.
Lets see them try that in the US, everyone knows Americans are always looking for a good fight, we've been known to pick a few ourselves just becuase we got bored.
