We have heard plenty of reports of no fish caught on this side and a few on this side, with water temps ranging from 43 to 48 it was a tough bite overall for most of course depending on how many hours you were out there, the stories I heard were from 12:00:01 a.m. with a slow bite to 0800:00 with a slow bite. we managed over a dozen fish with only one that would end up in the well on Saturday,Sunday I had taken out my little guy and he was the lucky one to catch the only one that would be a keeper.. it is his personal best for the season so far,, seems to me Dad has to up his rate a little, I will send Webdude a pic later to post.
all in all it was a Great opener.. beats working that is for sure.

rickg glad to hear you caught some fish. We made a bad decision first thing Saturday morning. We were staying at Fisherman's Wharf and made the run up to the north end first thing. Thinking the water temps were going to be warmer up in the sand. It was 2 degrees colder. 10 million boats and saw about 30 nets for the first 4 hours. We did get a couple. Everybody that started out in front of the Wharf did good first thing in the morning than it died out all weekend. We got 4 fish all weekend.

The fish haven't spawned yet from what I've been told. I think this weekend coming up will be great.

Between ice fishing and now opener on Mille Lacs I've had my fill of tuff fishing. Heading to Wisconsin for the rest of the summer to fill the freezer up!

Well, I hit the NorthEast side of the lake on Saturday. Caught one at over 19" in the morning. Lots of boats out there, but I saw hardly anyone scrambling for the net. Very slow that morning. Then the rain came. Caught another one at over 23". Probably one of the slowest openers I have seen in a long time. The water temp is still a bit too cold. Temps were in the upper 40's. Sunday we went out and didn't even get a bite until after 2pm. Worked at it hard too. Finally started catching some fish at around 8pm and we got over 30 all between the 16 to 25 inch mark. Saturday was a bust, but Sunday we finally started getting into fish. I bet it's going to be pretty good next weekend and the following with the temps going up.
