I bet I spoke with 6-7 different friends of mine over the past few weeks about opener and they all told me that they couldn't go because they couldn't bring the kids! What? I understand if they are infants, but I remember fishing when I was a toddler. I was bothered by this and discussed it with some of my opener participants and realized that I was being a hypocrit. I had no plans of bringing any kids with me for opener. I don't have any children, but I am an uncle to many. So, I fixed the problem. I will now be fishing opener with two nephews, a 7th grader and an 11th grader...and my buddy...and my dog...and the boss...I may need a bigger boat smile smiley Anyone else out there planning on bringing some kids?

I have spent a lifetime bringing kids or and adult that has never fished before with me. It doesnt seem right to not have a kid in the boat! Keep a kid in tow!

I have twin boys, age 9, who have been asking me for a month when the opener starts. Not sure where yet, but we will at least get to the St. Louis River for a couple of hours. They do more casting for Northerns than jigging for Walleyes throughout the year. I'd much rather have them casting and snagging on branches at a lake rather than beating on each with sticks at home.

This weekend there will 16 of us in a very very small cabin. Almost half of them are under the age of 16! It's not so much the fishing as it is getting away from the women and B.S'ing. smile smiley

I think my daughter (4) is more excited about fishing opener than I am. We'll probally head to Fish Lake dam and shore cast for a bit. Still don't have my boat finished.
Good luck all

Take a kid fishing, it'll keep you young.
