So our first softball game went well--I hit one over the fence, we won 28-6, then it was on to game 2 of our double header. Started fine, then my fishing buddy(net-man) gets drilled in the head and ended up with a concussion. Within a few minutes I'm at bat and have a nice hit, run to first and fall on my face! Blew my knee out. Now my right leg is immobilized and opener is just around the corner. This will make it interesting, but I'd have to lose a lot more then a leg to not go out for opener. Hey, maybe I'll be a little more patient and productive!?!?
I remember back in high school watching my buddy take a softball to the melon! He tipped over like you hit a light switch. I thought he was dead! He woke up a few minutes later and off to the hospital. I myself spent to many years wrestling and my knees now take the pain. I am right there with you on that pain! Take it easy and keep it elevated.
Ahh yes, the things we do to pursue fishing. Grum--I didn't even think about the PFD thing. I always have them near, but I will be wearing one this time. S-Burr, my buddy sure went down in a flash. It was sure a different sound then one would imagine. I guess this fishing thing feels more and more like a sport the older we get
If you've got short, stubby fingers and wear reading glasses, any relaxation you would normally derive from fly fishing is completely eliminated when you try to tie on a fly. ~ Jack Ohman, Fear of Fly Fishing, 1988
