This time of year, I would give the west end in the shallows a try. Usually I would fish any drop-off up into the shallows. Water temp is probably still pretty cold so I would think the crappies would be looking for some warm spots.

Good Luck!

I grew up on Minnetonka, If you have a boat libb's lake
off of Gray's Bay or any of the small channels on the north end of
Gray's Bay, on the west end, the bridge on hwy 41 has always been
good, or the stand bys for early season would be Black Lake or
Seaton Channel(sorry spelling Brain aint working today)The pan
fish are not as thick as they were in the day but it should
still be good, If your real motovated just cast along the docks
anywhere on the lake and you will catch fish. Chris

I agree w/ NSC, The Gray's Bay / Libbs area is great fun and there is alot of shorefishing opportunities and free parking for those who might be short on time or cash. wink smiley

I have been courious about the bite in Tanager Lake in Browns Bay? anyone tried it? whats the public parking situation? I've looked and doesnt appear to be good. crazy smiley

That used to be a great area for Crappies, The parking has allways
been bad, right on the road where the docks are or walk the tracks
to the bridge, have not fished there for many years, but it was great.

Well,
We fished in Browns, and caught two on the first two casts. But the wind was so strong our anchor couldn't hold us and we were having trolling motor issues, so we had to pull out. We went and tried Tananger and picked up one more. Three total, all nice sized, but no qty.

Thx for the tip NSC. I'll have to give it a shot the next time I'm in the area.

Sounds like a good day Bobber Down. I'll take a day of limited qty but bigger fish any day, over feeding the "silver-dollars" one after the other.
