I went down around 4:30 on Friday afternoon. I started at the creek casting into the current seem the best I could (there was a boat anchored right in the middle of it.) The creek is really low, it should be several feet higher then it is.

After no luck at the creek I started working my way up to the dam. I fished several spots almost up the the island and didn't get anything.

I counted 20 boats all packed into the Minneapolis side of the river from the locks down the shore. Out of the 20 boats and 6 shore fisherman I saw zero fish caught while I was there. I left around 6-6:30.

I plan on going back this week but we'll see how it goes. We need some serious rain to get the river up. Hopefully the 2 feet of snow they got up north will fill the river once it melts.

Anyone else get out this weekend?

Nofish,
Thanks for the report, I was hoping to make it down there this weekend, but it just didn't happen. Hopefully I will make it down, once the fish start biting!

I read a few other reports on other sites and it sounds like saturday had a good bite going on down by the dam but by all accounts friday was dead.

Its probably going to be a hit a miss spot.

Thx. for the report Nofishfisherman, been meaning to get down there myself. Hopefully the rain this week will help w/ the river/creek levels, at least help melt the ice on those mountain goat steps.

Going to give it another shot tonight. Usually a strong wind out of the south will push the bait fish up in the creek a little more, it can make for some fun times. Hoepfully the water is high enough to make it worth my walk.

Report coming in the morning.

I made it out for a very short time. I was there from 4:45-5:30 and as i thought the wind was pushing fish into the creek area. In the short time I was there I managed this chunky 24 incher with a few missed bites. Saw a couple white bass caught up in the creek as well as one other walleye. Carp are moving around in there right now as well, more then one was snagged by the tail by a few other guys.

All in all it was a good but short trip. Not bad for the first fish of the open water season. I'll be back tonight for a little while.
