I know all my fishing brothers and sisters are watching the lakes for open water. Lets share the info. Tell us where you are and the conditions of water near you. Thanks!!
I am located in the Minneapolis area and the lakea around my house still have ice on them, though it is pulling away for the shores. Hopefully it won't be long now...
I am seeing the same as Ted. Even some of the smaller pond still have ice. 34 days 'til the opener. It seems this happens every year. People panic on whether the ice will be gone.
I live in the Northwest suberbs and see alot of ice pulling off of bridge areas. Which is awesome for those of us looking forward to spring crappie action. Upcoming rain will certainly help. May slip out and check conditions of a few favorites spots sometime this week. Thanks for everyone who responded, and hope to hear more in the next week or two.
In the south and south-east metro ponds ice is pulling away from shore. Fishing in your local pond from shore could be happening in 1 week. The river has opened as far as the eye can see from 494 bridge on the Mississippi. A few chunks of ice floating downstream still, but a few fisherman out. I heard boat traffic was high near Redwing dam but it still can be fun. The ice should out of the harbor in Redwing soon.
Lex LeQuia, Welcome to the site, we hope you stick around a while! I'm still going to stick by my word that we are going to be pushing it to put our docks in on 4-26-08 @ BSL. I just don't see it happening .
