Well all I have to admit it has been the longest Winter of my life so far! I have been counting the days for the ice to melt and it looks like I need to start adding some days to my calendar! Not the most exciting thing to realize.
However on Monday I leave for Oklahoma's Grand Lake O' the Cherokees, for a week of some smash mouth bass fishing! It should be interesting down there right now. They have been getting so much rain lately that the water is up 8 ft in just days. Not to mention they have been getting so much rain non stop dating back about 10 months ago.
I figure the bass should be in the spawn to the post spawn. Possibly even stil pre spawn but with the weather staying stable in the 60's and 70's the big girls should be up in the shallows. I'm already thinking small jewel jigs, 3/8 - 1/2 oz. Tru Tungsten flippin jigs, a shad imitating jerkbait (probably a Ima Flit or a Lucky Craft Staysee), and maybe even a Basstrix Paddle Tail Swimbait for some fun!
Being that Grand Lake is SO DEEP and has no vegetation that a deep crankbait may knock their lights out!
Well hopefully this trip will cure my insanity and hopefully the ice will think about breaking up right around when I get back. Otherwise I'm looking at heading to Wabasha right away!!
