The upcoming week, following Memorial Day, will mark the 8th annual trip for my family (Brothers, Dad, Cousin and Uncle) upto North Central MN. We stay on Six Mile Lake near Bena, MN. We often take our kayaks and canoes onto smaller watering holes to enjoy the fishing and nature. This year we would like to take a separate small trip to an isloated lake in the area, somewhere within 180 miles. The key is we want to be on a lake where there aren't any houses or major manmade structures if possible, yet still catch fish (perferrably smallmouth). Can anyone offer any advice or advise if any such places still exist in today's modern world? We often carry in and carry out so that is no issue whatsoever. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you've got short, stubby fingers and wear reading glasses, any relaxation you would normally derive from fly fishing is completely eliminated when you try to tie on a fly. ~ Jack Ohman, Fear of Fly Fishing, 1988
