I don't see the harm in allowing two lines with the limits the way they are. It just means that the people who rarely catch a limit will still rarely catch a limit, and those who catch a limit often will catch a limit a little faster You should go to Florida and watch those guys Spec(crappie) fishing with six to twelve rods hanging off the back of the boat! Now, that would bother me.

I will side with Monster on this one. When I am fishing with people in my boat I swear I am watching there line more than mine! I am not sure it does any harm nor do I think it is going to help anyone. It also sounds like a great way for people to loose rods over the side of the boat!

I'm not a big fan of the 2 line proposal especially on slot limit lakes and particularly Mille Lacs. All I envision on Mille Lacs is gut hooked fished imagine 4 guys in a boat on a rock pile with 4 bobbers and 4 Lindys 8 lines total .....not good in my opinion. How about 3 guy's trolling 6 lines on Mille Lacs you think its dangerous out there now with all the boats and nobody paying attention to where they are going.
That being said if it does pass I'll gladly throw out another Catfish bait or an extra line if I'm trolling by myself.
My 2 Cents!

Early morning! You don't want to know why! So...I like SandBurrs thinking and I'd like to catch some of those lost rods and reels PierBridge--your against it, but then you state that you would do it??? I don't think there would be any danger on Mille Lacs. I have fished it for years and I have yet to see that lake full of boaters. I've been out on opener, a week after, two weeks after, and then numerous times for that awesome fall bite and have never seen what I would consider a lot of boaters out there. Also, everyone out there is fishing and they know how to be repectful. Too add, how often do you have four fisherman in your boat? Three maybe, but three guys bobber fishing and three guys Lindy rigging? They don't coincide. Your doing one or the other. Now, with the new limits of under 18" and one over 28" I could see the mortality rate being a concern, but even so, we are talking about a 1-2% rate in colder water temps. and up to 15% in warmer temps. That's about 1 out of 11 or 12 fish. I'm very open to all views, but so far, I do not see any harm in it. Also, with the Walleye limit going down to four and that hurting all of our wonderful resorts, why not let the anglers fish two lines? If you fish with one line and don't catch fish, fishing with two lines will still leave you with no fish. If you fish with one line and catch fish, fishing with two lines will let you catch your limit faster. And, I'd be more then happy to have tourists come here and spend there money here and go home with four fish a day. It's going to be hard enough to get tourists to come here and spend there money here with the state lowering the limit to four. Anything we can do to keep the money flowing will help us in the long run.

Yes I'm totally against it and I hope it doesn't pass.
And yes if it does pass and it's LEGAL I'll take advantage of it occassionally......Simple!
So you have never been on Mille Lacs when its crowded and a bunch of nit-wits are cruising withing 5 feet of your boat? Interesting!
I didn't say 3 guys Bobber Fishing and 3 guys Lindy rigging I said 4 GUYS with 8 lines out on a slot limit lake which I find ridiculous.

Pier, I hope I didn't push a button, those are not my intentions. I must have misunderstood you about the number of guys and lines. I do want to make clear that I am totally against our fishing regs. being dictated by our politicians and not by our DNR. I also am aware that the regs. are changing whether I like it or not and I'm trying to look at what would best suit our economy and fisheries. It has become clear that there will be many sides to every change. Also, I don't know if I'm fishing in different locations then many(I usually fish the west/southwest side), but like I said, I have not experienced those "nit-wits" on Mille Lacs. I must be one of the lucky ones Now, on Minnetonka it's a constant battle and that is a lake where I have boaters cutting off my lines and so on Just wanted to clear things up a bit.

Tyler W, Welcome to the site, we hope you stick around a while!
I love the idea of fishing with two lines although I do see both sides of the arguement. I personally would like to be able to throw out a bobber rod and then be able to cast something else. Just my two cents worth!

I'm ok with the two lines per guy. I've done it on Bay De Noc, which is pretty big water, with no problems. However, I spend most of my time on the Whitefish chain, where the boaters on weekends have become extremely irresponsible and hazardous. I usually don't even attempt to fish during the weekends during daylight hours.
If permitted, I would use multiple lines during trolling because we use planer boards quite often, which is easy to do with multiple lines. Anchored? probably wouldn't use multiple lines...The bag limit is what controls the fish harvest, not the number of poles....
