The only place I've ever caught white bass is in the St.Croix river below Tylors Falls. I was fishing for Walleye with a jig and a minnow and hooked into a few of them.

White bass are at the northern most reaches of their range in Minnesota so finding them can be difficult. If you know the right spots, they can be great to catch. Pound per pound they put up an incredible fight. Look for them in the Minnesota River, the St. Croix below Taylors Falls, the Mississippi below St. Anthony Falls and major tributaries, such as the Cannon and Zumbro rivers.

Minnesota Record: 4 lbs 0 oz. caught on the St. Croix.

There is a big bite that gets going early going in June/July IIRC here at Hastings. There is a culvert that empties into the Mississippi at Lake Rebecca that is the focus of the action, it is easy to find, just look for all the people fishing from shore.

You can catch alot of white bass in the Mississippi river starting in April or May depending on water temp.

While casting from shore a jig and minnow work as do a wide range of artificial baits.

The easiest place to fish is at Minnehaha Park butI am sure there are lots of other places to find them as well.

The Minnesota river has a a good population of them as well although I haven't chased them over there.

Minnehaha park is in Minneapolis.

Hwy 55 and 46th street is the closest major intersection.

I see you are from St. Paul. If you drive west of Ford Parkway and cross the bridge over the river you will pretty much be at the park.

Cross the river and take your first left. Then at the stop sign take a right. You will see the main park on the left side of the road thats where the Minnehaha Falls are. Park your car and follow the creek downstream to where it flows into the river and cast a line.

There are closer places to park and more details on the spot I can fill you in on this spring if you want to give it a shot.

I should warn you though that if you park at the main parking lot you will have to go down ALOT of stairs, and then of course back up them later. I think its over a hundered stairs if I remember correctly

I fish down there alot as well as a few others on the forum so you will see some reports from the area when it gets going.

It will be hard to target just the white bass, its a staging area for all species. You will catch Small mouth, walleye, white bass, and an assortment of other rough fish (carp, mooneye, sheepshead, etc...)

5 casts can yeild 5 differnt kinds of fish and often times it does.
