On February 22, 23 and 24th we will be heading up to LOW with 5-6 kids and a small mix of adults. We will be shoving off from the Mora area around 6:00pm friday night driving to the super 8 motel in warroad. Saturday morning we will be heading out to Long Point resort with our portables in hand. Back to Super 8 and Sunday morning we are going to put in another 1/2day and then head home. I would like to extend this invitation to the kids and adults that are looking for a cheap trip! It will cost about $68 plus tax for a double room at the super 8, $8 bucks to get on the lake and it sounds like we are basically eating sandwiches on the ice. If you have no idea what you are doing up there this is the chance to listen and learn! I am a great teacher and will help you. My buddie and I will be bringing all boys (but not limited too) from the ages of 9,12,13,14. We can only hope for good weather but plan for the worst. If you need more information email me at shannon@bucketrack.com. Remember these kids are your future!
Sand Burr, I've been considering bringing my kid up there. I think he is a little young yet(7). When was the first time you took your kids up there and what ages?
My oldest now 14 was ready to go at the age of 6 and my middle son which is 9 will be his first time up there. I base it mostly on if the child can make it all day on the ice. Not necessarily fishing but confined. Some kids just love to fish and hang out and some need to run and play. If I had my drop-down up there my 9 year old would of went earlier because he could of played games and other things but not in rentals or portables.
I had my son out on Chisago not that long ago. We were out for 6 hrs in the portable. He did good for the first 4 hrs, we did have a lot of action. I agree 100% that every kid is different and also what the conditions are. I think I will wait till maybe next year to make the long haul up to LOW. Good luck fishing SB and I hope you guys hook into some pigs!
