Looks like the windchill is supposed to get us into the -20 range? Whos going any way? I think I'm going to try out Owen Lake on Saturday. Never tried it before but a friend tells me that he knows a great little spot on the spot for big gills. Hopefully the fish gods will reward me for fighting the cold.. I'll let ya know how it goes.

We'll be out to Rush in the morning. Would have gone today, but the misses saw a mouse So, I was stuck playing mouse catcher. I sure hope I'm as good at catching mice as I am at catching fish! I bought four stick pads, four boxes of decon, and four old fashioned mouse traps. The wife wanted to buy this $30 box that electricuted them. No mercy. Well, the stick pads worked so far. Just ten minutes after I put them out my black lab was in full point. I looked over and there was a mouse. Hopefully thats the only one.
Catch'em fast!

I hit a small lake in chisago. First time on this water and the lake only had a few other fishers. Had a good time. caught some fish.. froze my off.
It was nice to see the small lake still had active fish.

Boy those stick pads sure work well catching mice! I caught four of the critters. Yuk! No signs of anymore thankfully. We battled the elements yesterday and went to Rush again. The daylight hours were pretty slow. We landed fish, but they were few and far between. I have to add that we were not willing to move around too often either. It was just frigid. Then about an hour before sundown the fight was on. We slaughtered the fish. Perch, sunnies, and crappies. Landed some real nice perch (10-11"), a few nice crappies, but the rest were pretty small. No walleye this time. It was none stop action again though. Once again, the fish wanted something different. The key this time was a tiny white or blue glow jig with one waxie dangling, let it sink to about six inches off the bottom and slowly raise it, then strike! 18 fow this time too. With this weather changing so often it takes some work to stay on top of these fish. When you can go out on a day like yesterday and catch as many fish as we did you sure fell a sense of reward from it.
Catch'em fast!
