I am coming up to Lake Hatch/Big Turtle the week of July 5-12. I love smallies and my Dad loves crappies. Any advice for these lakes? Are these lakes known for these species? Does anyone know where I can get a GPS Map of the two? Thanks.
Lake Hatch in Itasca has pretty much the gambut. The lake is heavy on bluegills and Tullibee. Walleyes are bigger then average if you can catch them. There are smallies and bucketmouths in there, not sure on how well you can catch these as I mainly target walleyes. I have caught a few smallies on the side, though.
People who fish for food, and sport be damned, are called pot-fishermen. The more expert ones are called crack pot-fishermen. All other fishermen are called crackpot fishermen. This is confusing. ~ Ed Zern, 1947
