I've fished three lakes this week, here's the reports!
Mille Lacs-*see my Mille Lacs posting
Lake Jane- fished the weedbeds in 12-15 fow. Found sunnies around 12 fow. Fished for Pike and found them everywhere. They were mostly small, but we caugth 1/2 dozen in three hours. 5 on tip-ups with small suckers and silver or gold Swedish Pimples. 1 on my heavy rod with 8lb. test and a orange/yellow/green Buckshot tipped with three waxies. All fish were tight on the weeds.
Rush- Started where I left off last week in 15-17fow and only saw and caught a few fish. Moved to 13-15fow and found the fish. Caught sunnies and perch. Sunnies were kind of small, but the perch were big again. Threw them all back They liked the still presentation this outing. Another week, another change. Hitting Rush again tomorrow so we'll see what they want this time.
Went to Rush Friday. AWESOME! Once again this lake produced. It was just me and my black lab and we landed well over 100 fish. And that's no fish story. Tried three depths before setting up the house and ended up setting up camp at 17 fow. Tons of perch, there small walleye(8-9"), many sunnies, and none stop crappie action once the sun went down. Crappies were small this time. Most fish came on waxies and a gold jig during sunlight and a white glow jig at night, but I did catch a lot on crappie minnows too. I saw two very large Northern on the camera and set a tipup but no takers. Also, this was the first time I saw a significant difference in the type of line I was using. I have 2lb. translucent(spelling?) line on one of my combos and that was the key. I tried the same jigs with different combos and they did not attract near as many bitters. Good luck to you all tomorrow.
