I've waited till now to cool off before writing this - nine friends and myself rented an ice house from Dickies Portside on Mil Lacs last weekend for two nights $600. It was and old trailer home (which would have been fine) that should have been burned down years ago! The front door had drywall screws sticking out for you to cut your hands on, there was mold on the OSB walls under the unoperating windows, the floor was so soft that you lost your balance when someone walked past, there was exposed electrical wiring, LP mantles with no globes, broken bunks and matresses that a hooker would have to burn! And lets not even get started on the bathroom.
Nope none of the above - there was ten of us and I was'nt the guy who made the arrangements. The way I see it is that most of the bad conditions (black mold, discarded mattresses, exposed electrical, rotten floors) were there when they hauled out on the lake. I doubt they see anything wrong with things the way they are ;<) Don't get me wrong, I'm not looking for a hotel experience but I was pissed to pay that much to stay in dumster as well.
Don't get ripped off by Dickies Portside - - -

Even eminent chartered accountants are known, in their capacity as fishermen, blissfully to ignore differences between seven and ten inches, half a pound and two pounds, three fish and a dozen fish. ~ William Sherwood Fox, Silken Lines and Silver Hooks, 1954
