Hey everyone,
First, this is not a commercial or a push for ticket sales for our contest. I am trying to determine if our advertising efforts are hitting the right market, so here goes.
About 1 month ago, our contest committee sent out some bright green mailers to a list of 3,446 known ice fishing contest goers. They were simple tri-folded fliers for our contest with ticket order forms on the bottom.
I am not interested in if you plan to come to the event or not, I am interested to know how many of you Fishing Aficionado's received a mailer?
Thanks, Tomcat41
P.S. You can e-mail me personally if you don't want the traffic on this forum

I did not recieve one but I am not a normal contest fisherman.
Where did you get your list of known ice fisherman? Are you getting a good sign up rate right now?
I work in marketing so this kind of thing is something I deal with on a daily basis but only on a much larger scale. Its always tough to know if you are directing your marketing efforts in the right area, there are so many things to consider (target market, cost of distribution, visability, actual design on the marketing piece, the list goes on and on.)

I never got one either. Wow it's been a long time since I've been here, it's like a lot of new changes. I'm liking them. Thanks, GE

Where did you get your list of known ice fisherman? A friend had the mailing lists of several other large contests in Minnesota. Although they would not disclose how they came to be in their possession, I do not belive they were paid for. Since we are a smaller community type event, we did not mail to out of state addresses and used zip codes from the Minneapolis/Saint Paul metro and North & West. How reliable was the list - don't know? So far however, we have only received a dozen or so "return to sender".
Are you getting a good sign up rate right now? Although I am chairing the event this year, there are several sub-committee chairpersons, one of which is ticket sales. As chairman, I do not micro manage the sub chairs - I give them my general overview and let them run with it based on their specific budget. So to answer your question - the reports I get at our planning meetings are good, but I do not honestly know. Like I said, I'm the chairman.
