lower case matt, thanks.

the big lake area has some good spots, big and mitchell. then you have ann lake northwest of elk river. most of these lakes have small pannies, but good pike and bass. wright county has numerous lakes with good fishing.

welcome to the area matt, you will like it here.

Hey Matt,

Welcome to the neighborhood. Big and Mitchell lakes have some decent Northern and Bass. I've been told there are eyes in there too, but personally have not had the experience of greeting any.

During the 2007 Little Hole ice contest, the smallest fish (out of top 25) was a 2.49lb bass. In late August, the Chad Judge Memorial contest had similar results, 2+lb bass and 6+lb Northern.

Hopefully we'll see you at the Little Hole contest this year - Feb 23

Ok, I live in Elk River and am not to excited about the fishing near town, but I have a few tips. I am not an ice fisherman so I am refereing to open water.

It is about 25-30 minutes away but if you don't mind a drive there is a lake called Sarah in Rockford that I have caught big crappie and huge northrns. The lake is well known for big pike. The down side is it is super green with algae most of the time.

Also crooked lake in Coon Rapids offers good Large Mouth bass fishing. My buddy and I landed a 22.5 inch fish a couple summers ago.

Twin lake in nowthen holds smallish panfish (good action lake), decent bass, and small to decent pike.

Never overlook the river. If you can get out there, the stretch between monticello and St. Cloud is top shelf smally fishing!

hey guys I love my area if you wanna drive about 15 min north to zimmerman, mn there is a few lakes around there with great walleye, northern, and bass fishing: Blue lake in isanti county, green lake in isanti county, and little elk lake right in zimmerman. Those are some of my favorites!
