Hey folks, Bobber Down just sent me an interesting video using an RC boat to catch fish. Believe it or not, I developed a website in Sweden that has a patent on a device very similar to this. The differences is that the device drops the line when a fish bites via a remote control that mounts to your rod. Very cool toy to have but very expensive. Looks like these kids put togther the next best thing!

I saw that advertised on FSN (Fox Sports) during the College Bass Championship.... they market it as a way to get kids involved.. but to me.. I figure if a big fish takes it.. the remote's distance will be hampered and you'll lose your toy pretty quick

Even a BAD day of fishing is better than a good day of work; paydays excluded!

Cool video!

I highly doubt it would be a legal way to fish though!

You can say that again!
You can say that again!

Once you catch the fish, the boat and line are not connected anymore. Once you reel in the fish, you go back to the remote and drive the boat back in and then re-attach your line to it. Very slick, but it costs around 800.00 if I remember right.

I put together a website for these folks about 3 years ago and they tried marketing it in Florida. Problem, I think, was the price of the unit. They sold very few. They tried advertising it to folks who couldn't afford a boat yet want to troll weedlines. I do know they had to jump through some hoops with the FLDNR. Not sure what the actual results of that were. They found me through another client and they were impressed with MFP and thought that having me do the website would be a natural fit. I think they got a little miffed when they asked me if I would ever buy one... I told them "No."

Apparently, their Finland site no longer exists either. I did find a bunch of stuff on the web about it, though. Name of the company was Vilco. The product was called ProwlerCat.

Here is a quick article on the product...
