Anyone from the Duluth area? Looking for others to meet up on a lake in the Duluth area on a weekend. Don't matter to me what you fish for - walleyes, northerns, crappie, perch, trout, etc. I have all my own equipment. Are there groups that get together at times throughout the winter? If so, let me know if you don't mind another member. I fish mainly in the area from Island Lake to the St. Louis River.
Normally I get up to Fish Lake once a winter but not this year. I also like Grand Lake when I am in a mood to chase flags all day. 50 pike a day is not uncommon on Grand Lake, all between 2-4 pounds usually.
I won't be around to join you but if you need some ideas of places to try let me know. if you want specifics email me at the address in my profile.
If you want to meet up with some other fisherman I would suggest Hi Banks on Fish Lake. It is a regular meeting spot for guys to go out of, you can BS a little at the bar and I am sure you can find some guys to go out with. And fish lake has it all in terms of species so you are bound to find someone in the mood for the same fish you are.
There are some fun lakes to fish up there for sure and its really not a bad drive to do on a weekend or even for a day trip. You can start in St. Paul and be on the lake in duluth with holes drilled in 3 hours.
Hi rjenko. I see you haven't had a reply for the Dultuh area. Just found this forum and happen to live in that area. There are a few groups that have impromptu and planned get togethers in parts of northeast MN. Shoot me an email and I'll try to help out. firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you've got short, stubby fingers and wear reading glasses, any relaxation you would normally derive from fly fishing is completely eliminated when you try to tie on a fly. ~ Jack Ohman, Fear of Fly Fishing, 1988
