My father will celebrate his 85th b-day on Friday, and he is hinting on me putting together an ice fishing trip. All he wants to do is "catch fish". I would appreciate any info. on where you guys think we should try. Comfort is big,he's healthy, but he's 85 and deserves it. We would hopefully try within the next three weeks. A sleeper house alone or a motel with a daily house would also work. Thank you for any info!!

Hey mtl23yrs,

Welcome to My Fishing Pals. Glad to have you aboard!

I think some questions are in order...

How far are you willing to travel?
Does it matter what species?
A day, weekend, a week?

Sorry for being picky, but in the Land of 60,000 Lakes, you can pretty much throw a dart at a map and find fish. Mille Lacs, Leech, LOTW, Upper Red are just a few of the popular lakes where you can rent sleepers and even have a guide get you on fish.

I'll let others chime in here...

If your willing to drive 6hrs(from cities), I would go to Lake of the Woods(LOW). Your sure to catch a bunch of Walleyes & Sauger without having to move around on the lake. I've stayed at Sportmans and it was very nice. They bring you out in the AM and pick you up in the evening. Come back to a nice hotel room and all the meals are included. It was a nice clean place with great food. I'm sure there are many different resorts up at LOW that do the same thing this just the one we used.

Good luck
