Just got back from a weekend on Winni and the fishing was slow. Tried both ends of the lake and seemed to be same every where...found a few perch durring the day, few walleyes in the evening, did not not fish past 7pm though. Ice is in rough shape, 14 inches, but you have to stay to the roads because of the slush...seen a few guys stuck that didn't listen..I think if we could have been more mobile (off the roads) we probably could have found more fish.
The perch fishing has been slow but when you get into them the jumbos aren't to bad, the walleyes seem to be hitting in the early evening and not for a long period of time. The raods out of Nodaks are in excellent condition, I would assume they are in great shape out if denny's as well. the presentation for us was the super perch forage minnow tipped with a minnow head. good luck out there and stay close to the roads as there is slush yet but getting better.

If you've got short, stubby fingers and wear reading glasses, any relaxation you would normally derive from fly fishing is completely eliminated when you try to tie on a fly. ~ Jack Ohman, Fear of Fly Fishing, 1988
