Here is some information on a Rod Building Class that is held at the Mora High School. I learned to build rods with these guys and they are the best! Two retired school teachers doing what they love. Information is below. I should be able to answer most questions.
This is our 28th year of rod building! If you are interested in spinning, bait-casting, fly, muskie, salmon, or ice fishing, we have the rod blank for you. Each rod will be built to meet your individual fishing needs- with all steps shown. Most up-to-date guides, handles, and blanks will be available. Each will be shown how to add a decorative butt wrap to finish off the rod. A good rod does not have to cost a fortune. Several custom made rods, both new and used, will be available for sale. Even eminent chartered accountants are known, in their capacity as fishermen, blissfully to ignore differences between seven and ten inches, half a pound and two pounds, three fish and a dozen fish. ~ William Sherwood Fox, Silken Lines and Silver Hooks, 1954
