Ice conditions Update:

The ice conditions as of 12/20/07 are still at 7 to 8 inches and as much as 11 inches in spots without any snow cover. We will not be driving vehicles this weekend. It is still just 4 wheelers and sleds. I am going to try to get some light houses out next week, if we can put on another inch or so. The weather has not been conducive to making much ice. I should have my foam house the first part of next week. My builder got sick on Monday and has just got back to the houses on Tuesday. All that I can say is, we will wait until the ice is 10 to 11 inches consistently before I start to plow off the roads. I know, it sucks but it is what it is.

Be safe

Rockman,
Glad to have you here. I have followed your reports on other sites in winters past.

I am working on planning a day trip up to Mille Lacs this thursday. Any good reports from your area on the walleye?

The plan is to either go out of Rocky Reef or maybe a bit farther north just south of Twin Pines (assuming I can find a place to walk out of)

We'll be on foot so we need a place somewhat close to shore.

If nothing else I might have to stop in for a burger.

Thanks guys, glad to be here.

Have a merry Xmas. I will be posting again on Wed. I was out this morning and the ice is still only 8 1/2 up to 12 inches. It is a lot like, well the easiest visual would be like driving on a waffle. Way too inconsistent for my liking. There was a couple slush spots out there. they should heal over just fine. We only ended up with 2 inches of snow, so that was a good thing. The snow that is out there has shrunk down quite well. I will hopefully be plowing a road on Wed. or Thurs. We will see what the next two nights brings us for ice. It is the hurry up and wait season. It will come, it may just be another 1st of the year gig.
Be safe
