Hi everyone,

Just want to know what everyone is planning to tie on for Bass opener in a couple of weeks.

I think I will use trusty Power Worms in the tequila sunrise color rigged Texas. They just jump in the boat with these things.

I will also have a white and blue BOOYAH jig tied on in case I see that perfect laydown tree. I can also swim this jig like a spinner. It works great, but if a northern hits, its gone in a heartbeat. I hate that.

Please share your info.

I'll start with spinner baits. or a buz bait. Then
I'll tie on my old trusty Senkos, 4" white ones. this is the year i am going master drop shotting, so I will try that also.

My favorite that seems to pull in a lot of bass is a Texas rig using grape worms (Culprit). Excellent for pulling through the weeds, especially early in the season.

Believe it or not, up in the Brainerd Lake areas (Gull, etc.), I used to use a leech on a plain hook with a bobber and sinker. Set the bobber about 1 foot above the sinker and cast as close as you can to the weed lines. I have caught a lot of bass this way, also early in the season.

Later in the year, I have used surface stuff that makes noise like a Jitterbug. Megabait has some interesting looking stuff.

Just like you would any other time. I use out in open water all the time and call fish up from deeper water.. Try it once and you'll see.

A lot of the answer depends on the weather pattern at the time. If it has been a stable weather pattern the spinnerbaits/rattle baits(such as rattle rap or rattle traps)are good options as you can cover a good portion of water looking for active fish. If a little less stable weather is there then jig worms or jig-n-pigs are really good options when fished at high percentage spots. And if we are unfortunate enough to be fishing with post cold front conditions I go to live bait (minnows/crawlers/leeches). For the tough conditions of post cold front days I have found this piece of information that my old pappy used to say to be true---"a tough bite is a tough bite--address it with live bait or go home and mow the yard".

Wishing a successful opener to all.
