Got this emailed to me. Rainy Lake Northern Pike record, which I believe is in Ontario, but Rainy River runs along the border. I probably have my geography screwed up, but the "little" northern is 36", the one attacking the little one is 55lbs and 56" long, a record. Both caught at the same time. Anyone hear about this?
Thanks Scumfrog! I have the picture of the guy holding the new record as well, but wouldn't want to publish his pic without permission. Couldn't figure out how to post a pic anyway.... Fish that is hooked is supposedly a 36 incher... Standard 2 inch minnow........
These two pics have been floating around in emails for a while now. Neither stroy is accurate however. Most I have heard say that the two pics are of the same fish however they are not. The one I posted is actually from Holland not the US or Canada and is not a record just really big.
Even eminent chartered accountants are known, in their capacity as fishermen, blissfully to ignore differences between seven and ten inches, half a pound and two pounds, three fish and a dozen fish. ~ William Sherwood Fox, Silken Lines and Silver Hooks, 1954
