After talking to some guys at the bait shops and checking out a few lakes I found that generally the ice is 4 to 6 inches on the area lakes. Although there are spots that just froze ,where there is current. Guys have been doing pretty good on south center and chisago in 7 to 10 feet.Just remember to clean up your garbage. I went by a spot on Lindstrom that was full of bottles ,cans , and propane bottles. People that do this should get a boot up the you know what. Be careful of the lakes yet since there are several spots that are very thin.I am going to get a meal of fish tommorrow morning, see you on the ice.Dont forget to stop by Frankies and get some bait , they will always throw you a bone on the hotspots.

Only 2 1/2 inches of ice on Big Swan Lake north of Grey Eagle so I won't put out my fish house for a few days yet. Some fish houses were out there when there was only 1 1/2 inches of ice. Some water on the ice, also.

Hi Bluemnguy, I spent my childhood on big swan lake by grey eagle. My parents still have a summer place on the lake. I have caught some monster walleye and northern in the summer but really have not ever fished it much in the winter. Its good to hear from that neck of the woods. Whats happening on Big Birch ?
