Hello All,
I am originally from the Mankato area but now live in southern Colorado. LOVE to Ice fish (not a lot of that out here). I am considering a trip to MN the first part of Jan and to my surprise I am having a hard time finding a place that rents out VERY nice ice houses. When I say VERY nice I don't mean a place that looks like the Hilton but something with a kitchen (we would like to stay on the ice overnight) but the group I am putting together also LOVES football and yes call us stupid but we would like to do the two things we love and watch the game and do some fishing at the same time. Anyone have a website where they offer a rental with a TV that gets reception? I have looked all over and made a few calls but can't find anyone who rents a place with a TV that actually gets reception.

Thanks for your time.

Not sure yet, would like to stay within a 3-hour drive from the MSP airport. Also, would like to find a lake that offered some decent crappie/walleye fishing

I had already tried them. They have good rentals, but got the impression that they thought I was nuts to think I could get TV reception out on the lake. Said for me to go to the local bar to catch the game. This I understand but when you are flying in for one weekend to do something you enjoy, going to the bar defeats the entire thing. This too sounds crazy but someone has told me if I can get WiFi access out on the lake, I can watch it on my laptop....any lakes out there that have Wi-Fi on them?

I would try lake Mille lacs resorts. I think the best fishing within 100 miles of the cities. Try calling Izaty's resort. http://www.izatys.com/ They have top end fish, but come with a price.

How many people are looking to have in one house?

They only way you'll get reception good enough on the lake is with a satalite. I'm sure if your willing to pay the bill Izaty's will take care of you. Let us know what they say.

Check out Hunter Winfields on Mille Lacs; their houses are very nice and have tv's... not sure how good the reception is. I will be staying in one of their houses with five friends over superbowl weekend but we are taking a dish so I'm not worried about missing anything.

Iceman,

Thanks for the referral. It is greatly appreciated!

Dirtfarmer,

If I gave you the impression that I thought you were crazy, I sincerely apologize. We have never had that kind of request, and to be honest I don't think there's a resort out there on any Mn. lake that could fulfill your request for the sat T.V. I may totally be wrong on that, but I have yet to hear of it. I again apologize for any negative feelings that you may have come away with, as that was certainly not my intent.

I can save you some time and trouble in your search as Izaty's Resort on Mille Lacs' is going into foreclosure, so they will not be of any help. Good luck in your search and if I can help in any way, please do not hesitate to contact me again. I have a buddy with a house out in the bay with a dish receiver, I will see if he would be willing to give it up for the weekend.
