Hey all,

I hope everyone had one heck of a good fishing season. I know I sure had. Anyone who knows me knows I am a die hard bass fisherman, but the farthest thing from a ice fisherman. Well, my buddy's boss was wanting to know a good spot he could go up ice fishing with his buddy. I guess every year they go up to McQuoids on Mille Lacs, but are not wanting to go up there this year. They are looking for somewhere about 2 hours north of the cities, some nice houses with heaters and toilets, etc. And that has some good fishing. Any ideas I could give them would greatly help.

Thanks again,

Tight Lines,

Well,
As an avid ice fisherman as far as up north riany is a great lake with good setups i usually dont ice any farhter north than milacs so not much help there sorry. but if your looking for good crappie and walleye action around the metro to west or north metro i would cenrtainly like to help. another good shot it try lake harriet and calhoun if you have protables great walleye and muskie fishing we had on hell of a season out hee last year. Any of the bays on tonka ealry to late seaon nice crappies suspended at 17-18 feet of water feather jig with crappie minnow or fathead work amazing. At any rate if you need some good spots around thetwin cities or burbs let me know ill steer you in the right direction.

Thanks for the advice. I know they are looking for some place to go and have a good weekend of fishing. A place that they can rent. If anyone else has any more info please let me know.

Thanks again,

Josh

How about the big Lake area? Anywhere close where I might catch some good walleyes and crappie on the ice?

You might want to check out some of the resorts on lake winnibigoshish, the big fish, the birches, denny's, mcardles, nodaks are a few. fishing is fantastic up there escpecially early ice. although they seem to bite all the time. walleyes, jumbo perch, crappies, northerns. sunnies to if you fish the right area..
winnie as I call it is approx 2 hours north of Mille Lacs.
let us know what you decide and hope this information helps you out.
