Folks,

Yesterday we had a new user sign up... Nicole Lanie. After joining, she sent me the following email. Please look inside yourself and see if there is any way you can help her out. Any type of education for the young and ourselves is a worthwhile endeavor.

October 24, 2007

Dear Friend,

I volunteer for a non-profit organization. Brandon Lanie Ethical Sportsmen Society. Brandon died tragically at the tender age of 14 when he was mistaken for a deer. The BLESS organization was established to help build a better outdoors through education and awareness. We believe this was a very preventable tragedy, losing a child is an unimaginable nightmare. If BLESS can help prevent another family from loosing a child, or any loved one, then we feel we have accomplished our goal.

The reason I am contacting you is we are looking for some help with advertising for donations and volunteers. Brandon was an avid hunter & fisherman, actually fishing was probably what he was most pasionate about. He would of loved this website. This year we will have a banquet to raise money so we can continue to educate outdoorsmen and build a better outdoors for all. I am contacting you on behalf of BLESS to help get more exposure.

For those not familiar with our organization, BLESS is a non-profit 501(c) 3 corporation.
Our Commitment is to inform hunters and anglers and the general public about natural resource conservation and enhancement. We will promote and conserve our natural resources; ethical hunting and fishing practices; and represent the community for a safe and enjoyable outdoors.

I thank you for your time and consideration. We look forward to whatever support you can provide.

If you require additional information about BLESS, please contact me and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have. You may also visit www.brandonlanie.org online or contact us directly by phone at: 612-418-0741. You can also donate online. If you are sending your donation in the form of a check, please make it payable to BLESS.

The banquet is November 30, 2007 at the Wild Marsh Golf Course in Buffalo, MN. Social hour begins at 6:00 p.m. We hope you can make it.

Thank you for your consideration. BLESS couldn't do it without the generosity of people like yourself.

Sincerely,

Troy and Nicole Lanie

A truly tragic story and I am sorry for your loss, Nicole.

For the rest of you...

Brandon Mitchell Lanie “Buddy” died tragically at the tender age of 14 when he was mistaken for a deer while deer hunting on November 18, 2006. Brandon was a freshman in High School. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and had such a love for the outdoors and more patience than most people can even understand. Brandon spent countless hours studying how to be a safer outdoorsman, he even received his Advanced Hunter Certification.

The BLESS organization was established to help build a better outdoors through education and awareness. We believe this was a very preventable tragedy, losing a child is an unimaginable nightmare. If BLESS can help prevent another family from losing a child, or any loved one, then we feel we have accomplished our goal.

If everyone were as safety conscious as Brandon was, tragedies such as this could be prevented.
