I was at Gander Mountain Yesterday here in St.Cloud, and saw a photo of something that just shocked me. There in the back of the store were you go to get your reals restringed there is a few photo's of a guy and the piranha he pulled out of the Mississippi near Sauk Rapids last fall. The thing is huge and has teeth! I've heard stories of this but wow, this close to home.. Makes you think alittle...

Hey LokoLobo,

Welcome to My Fishing Pals.

Yeah, I've heard this before, but not out of the Mississippi. There was a lake up by Mora where a Piranha was caught. I guess it happens once in a while up North here. It's usually someone who had them in an aquarium and decided to let them go. I talked to some locals up there and the consensus is that they never last the winter. But can you imagine catching one? That would pretty much freak me out!

An interesting article that states that what is being caught in Minnesota is not actually Piranha, but Pacu? - Remember folks, this article is dealing with only confirmed cases.

Hey, those pacu look like you could get a pretty good pair of filets off them. Piranhas, too. So, if I catch one, I'll do a report on how they taste....assuming I ever catch one.

Darned few fish I won't cook up. I'm still interested in fishing for the eels in the St. Croix, but it looks like it's a night fishing thing, and I'm a day-tripper.

Anyone here eaten a buffalo?

Fishing Pals,

According to some of the Hmong fishing techniques that I have observed, I wouldn't worry too much about pirahna overpopulation. They should be depleted in no time.
