Hey Guys,

I enjoy college football a great deal. Since this is my first year in Minnesota I was hoping I could get some good local insight into the coming season as well as some past history.

Everyone knows about the Golden Gopher mascot.... what a way cool persona. WAAAAAAY outclasses that Bucktooth Badger geek i have seen on TV. Wasn't he arrested for "improperly hugging" a person--- or something similar a few years back?

Anyway, dudes.. I was hoping you guys could give me a little Minnesota College Football history lesson and throw out any predictions you might have on the coming season.

Looking forward to a learning curve!

If you want a fun game to check out try the Tommie-Johnnie football game.

Its University of St. Thomas versus the University of St. Johns. HUGE rivalry. They plan every year and its a fun atmosphere, game will either be in St.Paul or up near St. Cloud.

Hey guys.. appreciate the responses. I had heard there was some pretty good high school ball played in Minnesota. I look forward to watching a few games. Also, thanks for the heads up on smaller colleges nofish. What colleges actually field a team in Minnesota.. I heard Winona State I think.... maybe River Falls also. I it is maybe 45 minutes or so into Wisconsin? What other colleges field a football team in state?

U of M
St. Thomas
St. Johns
Hamline
Bethel
Macalester use to not sure any more.
Concordia St. Paul
Concordia Moorhead
Minnesota State Mankato
University of Minnesota Duluth
St. Cloud State
Augsburg
Winona State
St. Olaf
Gustavus
Carleton
Moorhead State

Did I miss any? There's alot of college football to be had between division I, II, and III.

By far the best place to go is University of St. Johns on a cool fall afternoon. The stadium and campus are beautiful, as much as it pains me to say it since I went to St. Thomas.

I've been hearing a good amount of community colleges in the Duluth area are starting up football programs this year.

Great site for lake maps and fishing info

I too am a huge college football fan. Unfortunately I am in a different part of the country, so I can't help you too much, other than I know Michigan and Minnesota play for the Little Brown Jug each year and the coach at St. Johns, John Gagliardi, has the most winds of any coach at any level (443?) and he has been there for over 50 years or something like that. I am certainly looking forward to start of the season next weekend.

The 'Fond Du Lac" tribal/community college has football this year and softball this spring.. don't know where they're playing but assuming it's our Cloquet High School field.. that field's gonna be a mess with all the football and soccer on it.

Even a BAD day of fishing is better than a good day of work; paydays excluded!
