Things are still a bit slow but this is still considered a banner year for the big pond. Since you can't keep anything anymore all fishing out here is just for fun. I don't mind, for me it's usually just for fun anyway. I've been hitting the flats and 7 mile and fishing pretty deep. 25 to 35 feet. You average 1 or 2 fish an hour. You gotta be very careful cause the topwater is so warm. I would work them up real slow and be gentle and realease them rather quick. There's dead fish showing up on the shores. Used primarily weighted shadraps to get them down there and kind of putted around working any edges I found. Saturday, I fished 'til dark and the action, though slow, was still enough to keep me on the water. Still some nice fish being caught, though most of mine were small largest being a 23". Repectable. I could have kept two of the fish as they were in the slot, but hey, I was out there just havinmg a good time and enjoying the day.
Even eminent chartered accountants are known, in their capacity as fishermen, blissfully to ignore differences between seven and ten inches, half a pound and two pounds, three fish and a dozen fish. ~ William Sherwood Fox, Silken Lines and Silver Hooks, 1954
