My wife and I are going back to Voyageurs for the first time in 10 years. I have been there a dozen or so times and am familiar with most of the park. I'm looking for some current fishing info. I searched past posts and the 7/13 report.
We're going 7/20-7/25. It's going to be hot and sunny and July so my expectations aren't high. We'll likely fish Walleyes in the morning and evening and work Smallies and Pike during the day. We are staying on the Ash River.
I did a little looking for you and it looks like in the last week or so the best bite has been on the wind blown shorelines using lindy rigs with crawlers. According to what I found shallower weedy edges have been better then deep water
Its not real specific but it should help you get a start atleast. Following the wind is always a good bet on a lake you are trying to figure out.
Keep checking back hopefully someone else can get even more specific. And make sure to give us a report when you get back.
Well...I'm posting from Sunset Resort on the Ash River...I love wireless internet service.
It's 90+ degrees with almost no wind. Needless to say fishing is tough. We have caught a dozen or so in 3 days. Crawlers are not working, leeches seem to be the way to go. We are catching some weed walleyes and some in 20-25 feet.
Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn. ~ Chuck Clark
