The fishing was a bit on and off over this past weekend. On friday, we caught only 5 walleyes and we put them all back. We were trying leeches primarily and ended up switching to crawlers on harnesses with spinners. All the fish we caught that night were as the sun set. Saturday was still slow with a few good bites on the crawlers. We did land a couple and all were released. The whole weekend we caught around 15 walleyes and a couple smallies around the rockpiles. Not quite as hot as the weekend before, but better then a kick in the butt.
On a side note, I found this on the fishingMN site. Just thought I would cut and paste it here to give you all a heads up. The guy talking is from Rocky Reef Resort...
"Sit down first, on Friday I received a call from the Mn DNR out of Brainerd. We have caught almost 330,000 lbs out of our 365,000 lb safe harvestable limit. When we hit 365,000 lbs there will be an immediate slot restriction of 14 to 16 inches with one over 28 bag limit of 4. To say the least after the many years of dealing with a special regulation on this lake, I am not happy with their decision. Let us also not forget, that the MN DNR is bound by the federal government on the shared harvest of Lake Mille Lacs. It is all about pounds of fish harvested."

Even eminent chartered accountants are known, in their capacity as fishermen, blissfully to ignore differences between seven and ten inches, half a pound and two pounds, three fish and a dozen fish. ~ William Sherwood Fox, Silken Lines and Silver Hooks, 1954
