I don't know if you guys know Rob (Yattering Jack), but he is the founder of The Fishing Tree. What is The Fishing Tree? Well, I thought you would never ask!

"The Fishing Tree is a new program founded in Spring Grove,
Minnesota that believes every child (of any age) should be able
to enjoy the wonderful sport of fishing.

We believe everyone should get the chance to enjoy a day on the
water. We also understand that some people are unable to enjoy
this sport due to financial problems as well as disabilities. We
know that some people have never learned how to fish.

That is where "The Fishing Tree" comes in:

The Fishing Tree teaches children the basics of 'How to Fish'.
The fishing program will run this summer.

The Fishing Tree helps children get the essentials needed for
fishing through a small group instructional programs. Also, after
the child completes the "Fishing Tree Program", he/she will
receive a rod, reel and tackle supplies to start them fishing right.

The Fishing Tree can also assist local communities in
establishing tackle lending libraries."

Now that, I think, is a totally worthwhile effort, don't you?

Anyway, Rob sent me a few pics and I thought I would share them with you. But before we get to that, this is an organization that accepts donations. I would think if you were interested in the pursuit of passing on the art of angling to youngsters who would normally not be exposed to the pastime, you might find it in you to contribute something. At the bottom of this post is a link to check out Rob's site... A very worthwhile effort. Oh, and I happened to find a pic of him over there smile smiley

What a great organization! I really wish I had something like this to be involved in when I was a young kid. Especially in todays world it seems people are to busy to take their kids fishing. It scares me to think of never being introduced to it.

Great program I commend you! If it is ok I to would like to add a link on my website.

There's a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore looking like an idiot. - HookedGood
