Well,
This last weekend my father was out fishing with a couple of our relatives. They were doing great catching lots of nice eyes, when one guy had a nice one on right next to my dad. The rod was bent a lot due to the size of the fish, the line snapped and the rod tip went right into my dads eye. I know everyone always thinks of the hooks doing the damage, but let me tell you rod tips do damage too! All he could say was man if it was only sunny out and I had my sungalsses on, maybe this wouldn't have happened. So, if you're going fishing try to bring some eye protection. Because just like the rod tip snapped back, I'm sure all of you have seen hooks or lures coming back at the boat very fast. Vision is not something to mess with, try to do everything you can to protect it.
Just my $.02!

Thats a good tip. I don't usually wear eye protection unless its sunny but I have seen more then one hook fly fly back toward the boat. Rod tips and also low branches can also pose hazards.

Last summer when I was canoeing on the St. Croix north of St. Croix state park my buddy got his mepps stuck in a tree branch. He gave his line a quick tug and the lure came shooting back at the canoe and hit me in the calf. It didn't hook me but a 1/2 oz of metal can really hurt if it hits you hard enough. Funny thing is on the next cast the same thing happended only my buddy yanked the lure back and it hit him square in the chest still without hooking him. He didn't have shirt on so it left a red spot the exact shape of the lure on him. Pretty funny stuff since the hooks missed.

Thanks Dude,
I'm sure he will be, but it's going to be about 6 months before we know for sure. And No-fish, so true, I have done the exact same thing pulling my snagged line out from a tree branch. The lure comes back at ya about mach 3! Glasses, sunglasses, even just clear protective glasses at night. Anything to save your eyes!

Perfect, you're covered then. Like I was saying I'm sure he will be, after a couple of surgeries they are hoping to get him back to 20/20. Thanks for your concern.
