Sunday I started out at Gull and had a tough time finding any walleyes. My pal suggested we try North long. We abandoned the walleye fishing altogether and decided to put out some plastics. Now we finally got some action! The bucketmouths were turned on and we caught some panfish and a few pike too. Small jigs were working for Sunnies and Texas rigs were pulling out Pike and Bass. We fishing primarily on the west side form the weedlines on out to no more then 20'.
At the end of the day, we decided to try our luck again with redtails and leeches. Finally caught some walleyes - 5 good eaters. I would call it a pretty successful trip... at least we didn't get skunked, but I have to tell you the first 4 hours in the morning it was pretty dead.
Now a cavaet... Gull is my home lake and I didn't even make it out there last year. This was an impromptu trip my pal and I decided to try Saturday night. Since I moved to the Metro, fishing has been very sparse. Kind of trying to keep my present job. Anyway, it sure was nice getting out on the water. I used to post reports here weekly and thought it was lame I was still a Moderator, yet I never fished.
WELL!!! I finally got out and had some fun. Hopefully I can make it out more often. I have come to the conclusion that I need this just to keep my sanity.
You mean to tell me you actually got Delores out on the water this past weekend! Well, good for you.
You need to get out on the water a bit more. I know things have been pretty stressful the past year or so but, you are right, you need to get out and have some fun once in a while to keep things in perspective.
Glad you made it out and I hope to hear more reports soon!
