Has anyone ever done something for a kid that was out of the blue?...heres a story i have from this past year...lets hear yours

The few times i had gotten out to enjoy the outdoors were great and relaxing. In case those out there dont know me i am a giving person. Last time i was out fishing i came across a small group of kids out fishing. There were 3 boys and by the looks of the gear they had i would guess they were low income type children. I helped them learn the basics of fishing and taught them quite a bit in my brief visit with them. I noticed that the poles and reels and tackle they were using were pretty shotty and felt bad for them. I tried to help them with tying knots and the such but the line was so brittle it kept breaking on me. I asked how long they were going to be fishing and they stated they had just gotten there. So i left quickly to run to my house and look through my items i had. I rushed back to the lake and luckily they were still there. I came down and joined the kids fishing, talking and teaching them more about the sport of fishing. They were all smiling in excitement and i could tell they were taking in everything i was telling them. About 20 minutes later the mother came to get them and they started getting their things together and loading into the car. I asked them to hold up a minute and gave the kids a great gift. I went to my van and pulled out 3 almost brand new poles and a tackle box that was stuffed with tackle, line, lures...you name it, it was in there. I handed them to the kids and told the mother it was a gift from me to them. The look on the kids faces and the thanks from the mother was enough for me. She insisted on giving me something for my act and i refused many times explaining to the mother that i saw them earlier and felt bad for them. I then told the mother that fishing is the sport that needs to be handed down to children and wanted to make sure the kids would enjoy it more if they had better equipment. The kids were all excited and wanted to stay fishing with me to learn more about the sport! THAT made my day! I left those kids after about another hour and felt great about what i did for them. I brought a smile to the kids and the mother and left knowing they learned more about fishing and wanted to continue. I saw them about 3 weeks later fishing the same spot and walked up to them. They were all smiles! Plus they had something they didnt have before...fish.

I do what I can for everyone. I actually have seen those same kids just not that long ago. Still fishing and smiling! The best thing also is that not only were the kids fishing...so was the mother. She told me that she saw how much fun the kids were having and decided to join them to see what it was all about and why it made them so happy. They still had the same gear I gave them and I took a look just for the heck of it and could tell they are taking great care of their tackle and everything. I gave them my number in case they have any questions on hot to do anything. I know I will hear from them again. A little bit of kindness goes a long way with kids these days. Next time youre out fishing and you see kids fishing...dont just look at them...give them a pointer and if you can toss them a lure. It will make your day and theirs. Plus it will feel good knowing you are helping the kids of today with the sport of fishing.

That was a great story Black_Magic.
Almost brought a tear to my eye, really.

So there's this kid of about 7 years old. He comes from a broken home. He has several siblings and is the youngest .My friend Rick introduced me to him last winter as he knew the kid from his kids.
Anyway Rick decided to take "Animal" out ice fishing.
Since Rick had another FL-8 and another ice rod & reel all set up he taught Animal how it all worked and how to read the locator.
Well after a few trips Animal is rearing fish all on his own.

Here's where I come into the picture.
Dude brings Animal over to meet the guy that ties those jigs that worked so well for those 2 guys. He wanted to see how they were tied.
I sat down & showed him. Then I gave him the 2 I tied. You would have thought I gave him a 4 wheeler or something. Boy did he light up.

So a week goes by & Dude tells me he tied up a jig with materials he had at the house, well that got me to thinking so I had invited Animal over to the house.
I knew he did not have a vice as he used vice grips I think to hold the jig he had tied,so I set him up with a used vice, theard, hair of all my colors, glue.
A spell goes by & I'm up town at the convenience store & here comes Animal with his mom.
He's all excited to tell me he's tying jigs for his whole family.
They are all catching fish with them.
His older brothers that never fished were even in on the action .

So 1 stroke of kindness effected a whole family & in the end me too not to mention Dude and now his kids seeing Animal's excitement, who never wanted to learn how to fish are asking "can we go daddy?".
