Perch school by size and the schools travel next to each other when they are searching for food. The larger jumbo perch stay segregated from the smaller perch because the smaller perch are quicker, making it difficult for the larger, slower jumbos to compete for food. When youre catching small perch, try moving your baits a few yards in various directions until you find the jumbos that may only be a few yards away. Perch are active from dawn till about 8 in the morning and again from 11 a.m. to about 2 p.m. and also about 2 hours before sunset.

More great information! Does that hold true open water and ice fishing. Are they the same patterns winter and summer?

In most cases yes. At least in Wisconsin it does.

I don't think the fish know where the border is, so I'm sure it's true here too cool smiley
Thanks,

No prob...glad to help.

I have other tips for other fish species as well. Just ask and I will be happy to help anyone out with what I can. I have been fishing since I was 3 years old, ran my own fishing tackle and bail store for years. I have quite a bit of experience for most species of fish.

I've noticed crappies feed that way too.

Yea, most panfish tend to feed the same way in the same weather conditions.
