Prior Lake has been rough for most! I have been there a lot lately pre fishing for a tournament. I heard that the larger bass there have been subject to the largemouth virus. I'm not sure if that is true but it would explain a lot.
Although it's not all bad news. There are a lot of bass to be caught. Most of the ones we were catching were in the 10 to 15 inch range. Not huge by any means but a lot. I did catch some larger ones in the 3 to 4 lb range during practice but none on tournament day. Most of my luck came workin 7 - 15 ft drop offs and points with texas rigged plastic craws. Also in the morning on spinnerbaits in the bays. I know some people were having real good success fishing small 3 to 4 inch plastics on dropshot rigs right on the bank. Working the inside weed edge. Most bass fisherman were out with the walleye fisherman the past few weeks. Pretty awesome. It seperates the men from the boys!!
If you've got short, stubby fingers and wear reading glasses, any relaxation you would normally derive from fly fishing is completely eliminated when you try to tie on a fly. ~ Jack Ohman, Fear of Fly Fishing, 1988
