At 5:00 Saturday morning we headed out on the lake.
About two hours later I was retrieving my lure and saw this big muskie following it and BAM!!! the fight was on. Finally my first muskie or my 10,000 cast. I used a Black with a crome blade Mepps #5 bucktail. This part of the season you want to downsize. I only had 1/3 of one treble hook in his mouth so I wanted to get him netted fast. I have been fishing for these for about 5 years on and off. So we netted it and I just could not believe it.
It was a 43'' we estimated the weight had to be at least 20 pounds. I was using a Abu Garcia 5600 CB bait caster reel with a Shimano Contingency 7' rod. After years of pulling off weeds, about 10,000 casts and many follow ups this makes the cake. I would not of minded my first muskie being a 5 pounder, just to break the ice. The weather was sunny and the water was about 70 degrees.

I agree on the no picture thing.. though the times when you forget your camera it seems you're alone..AND ya catch something good!
