A rather Large Flathead Catfish was caught and released on the Mighty Mississippi River last night.
We had one run "bite" all night and this was it.
About 11:00 pm she decided to inhale my 7" Moore's Bait and Tackle Bullhead. I got real lucky first pulling her out of snag she darted into when it realized it was hooked and secondly for some reason she turned straight back into me after heading into the main current of the river I was down to the mono backing on my reel and literally seconds from being spooled or snapped off.
One of my goals for the year was to join the 40 pound club realistically I was just hoping to crack 30lbs.
If you've got short, stubby fingers and wear reading glasses, any relaxation you would normally derive from fly fishing is completely eliminated when you try to tie on a fly. ~ Jack Ohman, Fear of Fly Fishing, 1988
